Jack Webb
Jack Webb received his early schooling in Grandview Manitoba. He was with
the RCAF during WWII.
After the War, he took a refresher course at Regina College and
engineering classes at the University of Saskatchewan.
Jack articled to T.G. Tyrer, chief surveyor of the Saskatchewan Land
Titles Office before going into private practice in
1949.
In addition to his SLS commission, Mr. Webb was an Alberta Land Surveyor,
Manitoba Land Surveyor and Canada Lands Surveyor.
In 1953, Mr.
Webb was vice-president of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association. In
1959-1960,
he was president of the Saskatchewan Land Surveyors Association and,
in 1979-1980,
was president of the Canadian Institute of Surveying. In
1985, Jack Webb was made an
honorary life member of the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association.
Jack Webb has been a member of the local Lions Club, Board of Trade,
Canadian Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
He and his wife, Dorothy, had three children. The youngest, Tom, became a
Saskatchewan Land Surveyor and Canada Lands Surveyor and formed his
own survey practice in
1983. After
Jack Webb's retirement in
1984, he
helped Tom out.
Jack Webb is the author of several books including Muskeg, Outcrops and
40 Below.
