He articled to Bob McCutcheon and then practiced for many years as a principal in the firm of Wolley-Dod & MacCrimmon Surveys Limited.

Army has served on many committees over many years including the Planning Committee, Examining Committee and for the last couple of years, he served on the Association's Historical and Biographical Committee. Army also served as President of the Alberta Land Surveyors' Association in
1970.

When the Council of the Association was reviewing its criteria for granting honorary life membership, Council received two letters. The first one was from John Horn and said "no one is more deserving of this status than Army MacCrimmon." The second one was from George Walker and it read, "I suggest that the appointment of M.A. MacCrimmon as an honorary life member is long overdue.
