Gerry Lonergan

Another link with the early days of surveying in the western provinces was broken when on the November 11th, 1940, Gerald Joseph (Gerry) Lonergan passed away suddenly at his home in Buckingham, Quebec, in his 71st year.

The late Mr. Lonergan was born in Buckingham, where he received his primary education; he then attended Ottawa University and later McGill University, Montreal, from which institution he graduated in civil engineering in 1894.

On obtaining his commission as a Dominion Land Surveyor, Mr. Lonergan was employed by the Department of the Interior as Inspector of Surveys in Western Canada until his retirement in
1931.
