Sidney Knight

 

Sidney Knight was born May 25, 1887 (or 1886 according to military records) in Bruce Mines, Ontario. In 1910, he graduated from the University of Toronto with a B.A. Sc. in civil engineering.

He received his commission as an Alberta Land Surveyor on June 18,
1912. He was also a Dominion Land Surveyor.

On March 1,
1916, he enlisted in World War I and assigned to the 218th battalion as a private. He was transferred to the 8th CRT in March 1917 and seconded to the RAF in January 1918. He was engaged in the defence of London as a scout pilot during three raids on London in July and August 1918. He was operated on for appendicitis in August 1917 and finished the War with the rank of lieutenant.

Not much is known of Mr. Knight after the War except that he was living in Detroit, Michigan when he informed the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association of his service during the War.
