A.O. Gorman

We regret very much to record the death of a prominent Dominion Land Surveyor, in the person of A.O. Gorman of Ottawa.

Born at Buckingham, Quebec, February 25th, 1891, he was the son of the late Frederick Gorman and his wife Agnes Cosgrove. He received his early education at St. Michael's College, Buckingham, later attending the University of Ottawa. He obtained his Commission for Dominion Land Surveyor in May 1915, and joined the former Department of Interior at Ottawa. He was employed on subdivision, resurveys and baseline surveys for the greater part of his service. More recently he served as chief of the Legal Surveys Division and was named to the post of Assistant Surveyor General in the Department of Mines and Technical Surveys about three years ago where he was employed at the time of his death.

Mr. Gorman, was well known to Canadian surveyors and was President of the Canadian Institute of Surveying and Photogrammetry during 1947-1948.
