Gorman
We regret very much
to record the death of a prominent Dominion Land Surveyor, in the person of
A.O. Gorman of Ottawa.
Born at Buckingham,
Quebec, February 25th, 1891, he was the son of the late Frederick Gorman and
his wife Agnes Cosgrove. He received his early education at St. Michael's
College, Buckingham, later attending the University of Ottawa. He obtained
his Commission for Dominion Land Surveyor in May
1915,
and joined the former Department of Interior at Ottawa. He was employed on
subdivision, resurveys and baseline surveys for the greater part of his
service. More recently he served as chief of the Legal Surveys Division and
was named to the post of Assistant Surveyor General in the Department of
Mines and Technical Surveys about three years ago where he was employed at
the time of his death.
Mr. Gorman, was well
known to Canadian surveyors and was President of the Canadian Institute of
Surveying and Photogrammetry during
1947-1948.
