1988 - Delayed
Posting
On June 9, 1988, a new Surveys Act came
into force. The most significant amendment to the Act was Section 43, which
allowed a surveyor to submit a plan for registration without placing monuments
for one year from its registration or within a longer period of time as
specified by the Director of Surveys. The other significant change to the
Surveys Act was that all lot corners were required to be monumented. This
created the same situation as existed prior to February 16,
1912. Between
February 16, 1912, and June 9, 1988, posting was required only for block
outlines, deflections and those lot corners falling on a curvilinear block
boundary.
On June 22, 1988, the Association signed an agreement with the Government of
Alberta giving the Association the sole right to sell iron posts and marker
posts. This agreement, along with a grant of $100,000, allowed the Association
to establish the Professional Audit Branch.
Bill Wolley-Dod, ALS was appointed
the first Inspector of Surveys.
