1962 - On Top of Scientific Advancements

1961–1962 was perhaps not the most outstanding as far as land surveyors were concerned. The overall industry had to endure some periods of recession similar to the whole country. However, President Clark believed the future looked bright.

President Clark told the membership at the 1962 Annual General Meeting that they must keep on top of scientific advancements and keep an open mind to new or improved methods for the solution to survey problems. More specifically, he was referring to some of the new electronic instruments such as tellurometers, electronic computers and subtense bars.

President Clark expressed concern about the firm of John Doe & Associates or survey firms under a company name. “Who are these associates and who are the partners in these companies? Who controls these organizations?” President Clark was also one of the first presidents in recent history who was concerned about public relations and suggested that a committee on publicity be established.
